Congenital Heart Association for Parents and Patients Support (CHAPPS) is Singapore’s first support group for congenital heart conditions (CHD).
The goal of CHAPPS is to provide the much needed emotional support to both the young
patients and their parents and equip them with the necessary information to enable
them to cope with their condition and lead normal lives. Families also receive essential
information through the group via workshops, group meetings and seminars.
CHAPPS also reaches out to families through personal visits, phone calls, and web
resources. The volunteers who help to carry these out are family members of the patients
and have had experiences with CHD, open-heart surgeries, and other procedures.
CHAPPS is run by a dedicated group of CHD patients, parents and medical professionals with the goal to provide lifelong emotional and practical support to those affected by CHD, the world’s most common birth defect.
We are a non-profit Association and work closely with health professionals and other voluntary welfare organizations.
We are committed to:
- Be the leading support group in Singapore
- Reach out to children/adults who have congenital heart condition as part of their multiple health concerns
- Provide hope and support to the patients and their families impacted by the condition
- Acknowledge and respect the rights of all individuals with CHD to receive an adequate response to their needs
- Be a support group for any and all regardless of the hospitals they are being treated in
- Connect with other similar organizations around the world
- Provide awareness of the condition (CHD) to the patients and their families through the use of Website, newsletters and other resources.
